FAQ

How can I apply for a job at the Hemet Christmas tree lot?
We’re always looking for friendly seasonal help! If you’re a student or part-time worker who enjoys working outdoors and helping people, just drop by the lot and ask for the manager — we’re hiring now for the season.
How do I know the tree I choose is still fresh?
Even though you’re in a warm Southern California climate, at our Hemet lot we care for each tree properly until you pick it. A fresh tree will maintain its needles and color, and when gently shaken, very few needles should fall. If you notice entire branches dropping or bare spots on the outer limbs, opt for a different tree. At our lot we keep the trees shaded and well-watered so your tree stays fresh much longer.

Do I need to make a fresh cut on the base of my tree before putting it in the stand?
Yes — we recommend that every tree have about ½ inch shaved off the base just before you set it up in your home. This opens the tree’s pores so it can absorb water. Because Hemet’s air is drier than many places, this step helps your tree stay hydrated and vibrant throughout your holiday.
What size tree stand should I use, and how much water will my tree need?
For best results in the Inland Empire climate, use a stand that can hold at least one gallon of water (especially for trees with a large trunk base). A general guideline: each inch of trunk diameter often needs about one quart of water per day during the first week. Check the water level every day and keep the stand filled so the cut base stays immersed and the tree remains healthy in your Hemet home.
